The action scenes refer back to real-life events. One of the most memorable sequences early on in Fear the Walking Dead is a riot that erupts after a police officer shoots a man who is initially believed to be innocent. Reminiscent of the infamous 1992 Los Angeles riots, Cliff Curtis (plays Travis) found filming it a little too realistic at times. “When you see what human beings become when they’re unleashed — all the rules are gone and you can do whatever you want because there’s nothing to stop you — boy, it’s scary.”
